Elizabeth Starr is a dynamic and multifaceted artist who combines a sophisticated sense of design with an exuberant love for the images of the natural world and a contagious enthusiasm for the ecological wonders around her. Even though she’s busy painting (or drawing, or printing) all year ‘round, reflecting the glory of all the New England seasons, there’s something especially spring-like about the joy that infuses her work, and this seems like the perfect time to appreciate it. Almost every day she could be found (if you knew where to look!) exploring the woods and coastline around her home in Bath, Maine, and translating the delight of those rambles onto paper and canvas for our delight. We at the Green Lion are also delighted to show them to you.

A musician as well as an artist, Elizabeth lives, plays, explores, draws, and paints the visual wonders of midcoast Maine. She was raised in Massachusetts, where she earned a BFA in painting at Swain School of Design in New Bedford, MA. Today, her walkabouts take her deep into the spruce woods and by the granite shores around her home. Her work in watercolors, acrylics and oil paint capture what wild adventures happen, immersed in the Maine wilds. She paints an exhilarating tangle of feral flowers, thickets of fir, mosaics of mossy stones, and the elements of fierce weather which can change any time. Her work distills the magic of her Maine experiences.
